Disintegration of the Gulf Cooperation Council

Disintegration of the Gulf Cooperation Council

"When brothers work together, the mountains turn into gold," says the famous American author and developer of the famous lessons on self-improvement, Dale Carnegie.

Each group of countries, whether neighboring or grouped with commercial relations and common interests, has a union, and this union represents them and represents their principles and constants and represents their differences as well. Each country in this union is considered a member and defends any other member in the group in case it is exposed to danger, such as the European Union, for example, which includes 27 countries and which  They share some commercial, economic and political policies. In addition, they are almost neighboring countries. They united the currency between them with the refusal of a few and approved among themselves the free market policy and granted the European citizen freedom of movement between member states. This union became integrated in 1993 after the signing of the Maastricht Agreement.  This union has many problems, including the debts of some member states, such as Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, and also the British withdrawal crisis in January 2020 AD, but the union remained and developed policies to confront all crises and problems so that this economic and political union remains in place to face any challenge in the future that may face them.

We now come to mention the Gulf Cooperation Council, which was established on May 25, 1981 AD, which brings together countries that border on borders and unite in their source of income, which is oil, and agree on most of their issues, which are protecting the GCC countries against any danger, trying to create a common market and setting unified policies, as well as the Palestinian cause, about which more than one  Secretary General of the Council affirmed that the Palestine issue is the first issue of Arabs and Muslims. The Iraqi invasion of Kuwait has proven the seriousness of this union in protecting any member state that is exposed to danger and condemning all Israeli attacks on Palestine has proven the principle of this Council towards the Palestinian cause. This union has set one of its goals to cooperate in all fields.  And achieving integration to reach Gulf unity, and this union possesses a military force (the Peninsula Shield) that faces all internal and external challenges that may face the Council, with all the above mentioned, but the time has come when we say to the Council and its members, "May God reward you and may God have mercy on you."

This council is clinically dead and may not accept any revitalization or rebuilding process. One of the reasons for the disintegration of this council currently is the difference in almost every direction, politics and interests of the member states, and the failure of most of the members to resolve these differences despite the efforts made by the State of Kuwait to solve them.  (The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain) is blockading and boycotting (Qatar) due to the different interests and points of view until the matter arrived, as indicated by His Highness Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump in 2017 AD.  "Be something military "

As if the reasons for the death of this council did not stop at the boycott by some member states of Qatar. Rather, the cause of death was recently completed after the United Arab Emirates announced the declaration of normalization with the Israel. What made matters worse was the statements of the Israeli Prime Minister and American officials that more Gulf countries accepted the idea of normalization and open relations with the Israel. Also, there is a reason that some may disagree on, which is the intervention of the Arab Republic of Egypt in drawing up policies and forming alliances that include Gulf states to achieve goals that do not achieve the Gulf public interest, but rather the dissolution of the Gulf public interest!

The causes differed, and the death is one. We may see this Council fall soon, and there is heartbreak for this union that our fathers established from the late princes, kings and sheikhs of the late Arab Gulf states, may God have mercy on them, despite Kuwait’s relentless efforts that did not give up a minute in order to save this council, but some of its members are determined.  On the disagreement and willing to form a federation that brings them together as states amenable to opening relations with the Israel and amenable to the idea of a military solution against a member state in this union or against any country that might disagree with them in the future if this lukewarm council remains in place.

If the Gulf Cooperation Council falls, then the most affected are the small countries in the area such as the State of Kuwait and the State of Qatar, especially the State of Kuwait, which differ in many policies with the rest of the member states, such as the policy of opening relations with the Israel and interfering in conflicts that harm a country like Kuwait, which is considered one of the countries calling for peace and which  It plays a mediating role in solving international conflicts for its global standing. Therefore, these countries (Qatar and Kuwait) must establish more alliances and agreements with regional and international powers such as the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Republic of Turkey, the Russian Federation and China to face the danger surrounding them as small states in space, which is  The risk of interference in its sovereignty and politics from some regional countries.

What has been mentioned of the reasons that some may disagree with or agree upon or that there may be other reasons, all the reasons are on the table and the Gulf peoples know them even if they differ, but everyone agrees that this council has become disintegrating and is about to fall, in the end not everything that is known is said even if many of what we know.  As former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi said, "In India no politician is brave enough to try to explain that cows can be eaten!"
